Historical decision by Board to open Inter-commissionerate transfer

Posted by Secretary General on 10/18/2011 08:40:00 PM with 17 comments

One long standing demand of this Association, after years of relentless persuasion, has been acceded to by the CBEC. The Board met today afternoon, and in a major decision, it has decided to lift the ban on Inter – Commissionerate Transfers of Inspectors. Details are expected to be notified very shortly, probably by next week. We have met the concerned Board officials this evening and requested that the needful may kindly be done for implementing the Board’s decision immediately and we have been assured that it will be so.

Its really a historical decision taken by CBEC. But what about all India seniority matter. Without it, we will have to go our desired location loosing our seniority.

Probably the best news after joining of the service. The efforts put in by the comrades are invaluable for which we shall remain indebted forever. Now, we can work with a relief that we shall go to our home town (Kolkata in my case) sooner rather than later instead of feeling the heat of being confined so far away from our place till for an uncertain period of time.

But this is not going to be easy and long term solution in future also,as all can't go wherever she/he wants and even with some conditions like completion of three-four years of service or seniority basis or vacancy basis or lost of seniority basis. Hope the long term solution may be putting everyone in a circle where the place of posting is accessible from their native. But it's not like that a native from J&K or Punjab may be posted to Tamil nadu or kerala or North -East,and vice-versa. As J&K or punjab can reach upto Delhi or hardly UP,North-East upto west Bengal,Tamil nadu Kerala upto MP or Andhra vice -versa.

Its a good news, but at the same time I doubt that getting transfer would be an easy task. I think the expected change in policy is only for the purpose of appeasing a certain class of people. There has never been transparency in the inter-commissionerate transfer policy in the central excise department.

It is a very gud news but I think transfers will be so easy. the Deptt. may hindered the transfers in their own ways. Also try for introducing Departmental tests in the department for promotion to the post of Supdt. , so thathard working inspectors & staff might get rewrd for their hard work. Also the rotation policy in the deptt. is not fair like customs & IT. & the officers have to remain on the mercy of the Seniors or buttering their feets.

good news. i think in the outgoing process of restructuring of cadre it was necessary for the administration to lift the ban from the ict.
Now it will require a all india basis fair transfer policy so that the needs of administration as well as officers could be fulfilled and any posssibility of misuse of all india trasfer obligation may be avoided. congratulations to all officers.
