VISIT To Delhi

Posted by Secretary General on 6/25/2011 06:13:00 PM with 5 comments
After assumption of new  body, the President and General Secretary paid their first visit to New Delhi on 20th to 22nd June, 2011.  They along with the Organising Secretary, met Member(P&V) and gave representations as follows:

1.  Speedy clearance for in-situ promotion scheme.
2.  Change of ratio before implementation of cadre restructuring proposal.
3.  New transfer policy of Gujarat Customs zone.
4.  Delay in conduct of DPC at Chennai zone.

During the 45 minute meeting, Madam gave a patient hearing and assured that the points raised by the Association would be looked into,  though madam raised some doubts on the long term  implications of the in situ scheme.   We however impressed upon madam that the pressing problems of our cadre on stagnation should be addressed before implementation of the CR proposal.

The President and SG later met JS(Admn.) and Director, DOPT and reiterated the demands.

Dear Comrades,
The cadre restructuring appears to be like a big hogwash. Here in Mumbai, Mumbai Customs has given in situ promotions to their staff wihtout having the vacancies so now POs who had joined in 2002 in general cadre are superintendents, whereas, Central Excise Inspecors in Mumbai of 1989 are still to get their first promotion to the same rank. The same exam in the same city for the same grade in the same department yet such a big difference. This irony is bitter to swallow

Giving in situ promotion is a good idea. However, it can not be implemented selectively by Customs Mambai Commissionerate alone. There should be some thing more to it. I request the President and G.S. to clarify the same to its members.

Yours,
Prabhu C.G.
