Some Recent Developments

Posted by Secretary General on 7/21/2013 03:44:00 PM with No comments
The dates for the meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the AICEIA  at Shimla are fast approaching. We look forward to a fruitful and successful meeting hosted by the Chandigarh Circle.  Units which have not yet mailed information regarding their membership, dues etc. are requested to do so at the earliest. Those delegates who have not yet confirmed attendance are requested to do so immediately to the Host unit, to avoid any inconvenience later - either to them, or to the hosts.
As regards progress in Restructuring in the CBEC, it is learnt that the Committee of Secretaries may meet in early August to discuss the same.

On 12th July, 2013 the office bearers of AICEIA, Mumbai Circle Com. Anil Kumar, President and Com. Manish Roy, Vice President availed the opportunity to have a meeting with Shri Parthsarthy Shome, the Advisor to the  Finance Minister, Union of India, who was  on visit to  LTU, Mumbai and had meeting with both Income Tax and Central Excise officers. Shri Shome was apprised with main concern of the Central Excise Inspector cadre viz. poor promotion avenues, pathetic working conditions & absolute lack of infrastructure etc. Shri Shome assured that the points raised by the AICEIA would be placed before the appropriate authorities and he would also revert to the Association, if needed. AICEIA appreciates their efforts.
The AICEIA is filing an application in the Supreme Court for Early Hearing in the Civil Appeal filed by the Government challenging grant of Rs 5400/- to an Inspector on completion of 4 years of service after getting 1st ACP. Engaging Senior Counsel for the hearing of the Application for Early Hearing, and if the Court allows it, for arguing our case thereafter is very expensive, and will require a lot of funds.
The hearing in the Mumbai CAT on our OA seeking notional fixation of pay in the higher scale from 1.1.96  has been adjourned to 16.08.2013, as informed by our Vice President (West) Com. Snajay Srinivasan. The High Court of Mumbai too is yet to pronounce its verdict on the Writ Petition filed by the Govt. challenging the favourable order passed by CAT Mumbai deciding the OA filed by the ITGOA. This has an important bearing naturally on the outcome of our case too.
